King (Chinook) Salmon - The Prize Of Kenai River

Nine of the ten record setting King (Chinook) Salmon were caught in Alaska's Kenai River. The average size of Kings in Alaska is 20 pounds, but typically the Kenai yields 50-pound Kings. King Salmon spend 2 to 5 years in the ocean before they come back to spawn. Thus, the size of these fish can vary quite a bit. The largest King caught on the Kenai weighed 97.25 pounds.

What makes the Kenai such a popular spot for fishing fanatics? There are certainly other rivers in Alaska that host greater numbers of salmon. (This isn't to say that the number of salmon in the river is small. There's plenty to go around for all wanting to have a great day, week, or month fishing.)

This river draws fishermen for three primary reasons-size of the Kings, abundance of varieties of salmon, and the number of runs for each type. Along with the King, the Kenai is stocked with Sockeye (Red) Salmon and Coho (Silver) Salmon, with each of the species having two runs between May and October. And then there's the size of the Kings. If you want the best chance of landing a trophy Chinook Salmon, the Kenai River is the place to be.

It's a short jaunt from Anchorage to the 80-mile long Kenai. The first time you see the river, you may simply be stunned. With striking sapphire waters created by glacial melt, the river is simply breathtaking. Conservation measures have been instituted to preserve the natural beauty and nurturing environment of the river for residents and visitors.

During fishing season, the Kenai supports thousands upon thousands of salmon, making it relatively easy for many fishermen, especially those working with licensed guides, to catch their limit. Additionally, the river is home for world-class rainbow trout, which are the envy of anglers everywhere.

The Kenai is divided into three sections. The upper part is 30-miles long, flowing from Kenai Lake located on Cooper Landing and going to Skilak Lake. Rafters, drift boaters and other recreational and sport enthusiasts have easy access to the river at Cooper Landing.

The upper part of the Kenai flows down to and ends at the Russian River, a tributary that plays host to thousands of Sockeye Salmon. Just down river from this tributary is the Kenai River Ferry, which transports thousands of fishermen to the river's far bank. This section is popular with anglers and it's often packed.

Going down river, you'll find many miles of beautiful views, natural settings, and bountiful fishing. In this stretch between the Russian River and Jim's landing, despite the fact that it's bordered by the busy Sterling Highway, you will experience isolation and peace due to the natural buffer created by trees and thick vegetation.

The Kenai River meets Skilak Lake, forming the middle part of the river, which goes to Soldotna Bridge. If you're looking for wildlife and true isolation, this section is for you. With a ten-mile stretch that has no boat access and a variety of animals, including moose, bear, and waterfowl, the Kenai embraces the wild. To get to some prime fishing, you'll need a boat; however, some parts of the middle river can get too low to navigate. Throughout the summer, the Kenai rises, allowing boats easier passage.

In this remote section you'll find some of the best trout and Silver Salmon fishing on the river. Unlike the upper and lower parts of the Kenai, this section has fewer sportsmen, guides, and visitors on it.

Soldotna Bridge marks the end of the middle section and the beginning of the lower part, which terminates at Cook's Inlet. Before the inlet, the river can get very busy. Its banks are fairly crowded with businesses and homes. Along with being congested, the river also has some sandbars and large rocks, making it tough to navigate.

The second King run, in June and July, is the most popular with anglers looking to land the next world record salmon. The lower river has easy access and many of the approximately 400 registered guides can be found in this section.

The King (Chinook) Salmon can be as large as a man and as tough to haul in as any sport fish. It's the prize catch on any Kenai River fishing trip. For anglers looking for some of the largest salmon in the world, this section of the river offers the greatest opportunity for hauling in the ultimate catch and coming up with the biggest fish story.

Secrets of Microsoft new file system revealed by Data Recovery Engineer

Hi friends, let's talk this time about the new concept in file manager that will be introduced by Microsoft in its new Operating system Windows Vista. The name of this new file administration is "WinFS".

WinFS is a new file system that it's being developed by Microsoft to be used in its new operating system Windows Vista. At the begining this name means Windows Future Storage, but now is only Windows File System. Acctually, there is no clear information about what "WinFS" is. Some people say that is a complete new file system and others say that WinFS is only an extension of the actual system because many of the file system work is done by NTFS.

Necessity
With the evolution of Internet and the information technologies, working with big volumes of information has increasingly become more common. Hard disks represent the first half of the storage for personal information. They are commonly used to store personal contacts, work documents, etc. These information items usually keep certain relationship levels among them. So, when you work with a large number of these items, it is very important to organize them and provide a flexible search mechanism based on their properties and content.

Architecture
WinFS is a storage platform to organize, search and share a wide diversity of information.
Instead of a traditional tree in NTFS to organize information, WinFS uses a direct acyclic graph of items (DAG). It is a set of stored items and their relationships whose physical storage is a relational database providing support to store any item hierarchy. Now it is possible to find items according to the value of their properties and even to the value of the properties of items related to them. The data-sharing capacities of WinFS come with a set of services such us synchronization, notification, a unified store and a common security model. The integration of these services to other technologies like Active Directory makes it possible for applications to share data in a flexible way.

Conclusions
WinFS data model expresses a set of modern storage concepts featuring a combination of the file system services and the relational system to provide a new powerful and enhancing storage platform. This actually elevates the file system conception to a higher level. The WinFS Item may be expressed in XML, object-oriented or tabular manner which allows the WinFS functionalities to be used in a variety of heterogeneous environments. In addition to this, WinFS features a powerful API to develop applications that use its potentialities. Due to its conception WinFS data model represents a step forward in the evolution of file systems and even of storage platforms.

Newspapers And Political Bias

Almost every weekday, for the last thirty some years, I have purchased three or four newspapers and read them at lunch time. I do this in order to relax and in some cases learn something. One of the 'newspapers' I buy is the Los Angeles Times and I am going to use that 'newspaper' as my example for this article. In my opinion the Los Angeles Times has always been a somewhat liberal paper. I never minded that as some of my views were also somewhat liberal. A while back, however, the paper was purchased by the Tribune Company and the paper went from taking a slightly liberal slant to taking a very liberal slant and it went from reporting the news to trying to influence the news. Now, the paper seems to have gone off the deep end and is trying to control the news and brainwash it's readers.

As long as I can remember, newspapers have used their front page to report hard news, news that they considered to be of great importance to their readers. The Los Angeles Times and many other newspapers now seem to be using their front pages to influence their readers. Now, in addition to slanting their stories to the left or right, many newspapers are slipping op-ed pieces (I am all for op-ed pieces as long as they are printed in the op-ed section of the paper and listed as opinions or editorials. I like reading other people's viewpoints. After all, I might learn something new.) into the news sections of the paper and even onto the front page.

Today, December 23, 2005, the paper ran, on the front page, above the fold, near the center, a piece headlined "GOP Hitting Limits of Agressive Tactics". To be fair the paper did insert in smaller type, above the headline, the words "News Analysis" (I wonder how many readers know that 'news analysis' is just another way of saying editorial opinion. I also wonder how many people even read the words 'News Analysis'.). This piece was written by a 'Times Staff Writer' who as far as I can tell, has never written a hard news item in his life. The only pieces, written by this writer, that I have ever read have been anti Republican, anti Bush and anti anyone and everyone who is not to the far left, opinion pieces. This piece slams the Republican Party and the Administration, praises the Democratic Party, gives a few partial statistics, lists several half truths and gives the writers opinion as to how the Republican Party is out to harm the environment, destroy the poor, overrun the Democratic Party and ruin this country. It does everything but report news, yet it is made to appear as a hard news piece. I would not mind this piece if it were published in the op-ed section of the paper (Everyone has the right to his or her opinion.) but, it offends me that it was published on the front page where news items belong.

Right (pardon the pun) below that piece is a piece headlined "U.N. Hit by a Bolt From the Right". This piece about, John Bolton, the United States Ambassador to the United Nations, seems to be innocuous, but if you read the whole piece you come away with the impression that Ambassador Bolton is a bullying right wing trouble maker who is ruining our relationships with our allies and with the U.N.. This piece is again an opinion or editorial. It is not hard news or even news. It would have been okay in the op-ed section, but it did not belong on the front page.

Neither of those pieces belonged on the front page. The only reason to have them there, is to attempt to influence the thinking of the paper's readers.

The foregoing are just two examples of how the paper is trying to control public opinion. Whenever the paper publishes something good that has happened in Iraq or Afganistan the insert, into the piece, several bad things. Everytime they publish something good about a Republican, or even a moderate Democrat, they insert something negative. Negative pieces about Moderates and Conservatives are published on the front page or near the front and positive pieces are published near the back. Positive pieces about the left are published on the front page or near the front and negative pieces about the left are published near the back. In today's paper they published a piece about the President defending our spy program. Where did they publish it? On the last page, page 32, of the national news section. They also published a piece about the President okaying troop cuts in Iraq. This piece was published on page 3 of the national news section, however, in the piece they also mention that there have been 2,150 U.S. deaths in Iraq, that a soldier was killed by a bomb and that the President "is under growing pressure to pare back U.S. troops in Iraq". Again, the paper can't print something positive without printing something negative, when it comes to the President.

By the way, who is putting pressure, on the President, to 'pare back the troops in Iraq'? I know that I'm not. I don't know enough about what is needed in Iraq to make that type of suggestion. As far as I can tell, most of the 'pressure' is coming from the far left, their spokespeople, the people that have bought into their ranting and the 'talking heads' that love to go on talk shows and show everyone how 'in the loop' they are, even though they usually turn out to know less than we do. Maybe we should pull back troops and then again maybe we should not. The only people that the President should be listening to are his Generals and certain people in the intelligence community, the Department Of Defense and the State Department. He should not be listening to his opponents (They have their own agenda.), reporters, publishers or the Hollywood Elite. They may think they know everything, but they don't.

trap

trap is a fishing tool that is placed permanently in the water with a certain period to facilitate the entry of fish and complicate their resolution. Usually Trap or trap is made from natural materials such as bamboo, wood or other artificial materials as well as nets.
For the operation of some types of fishing equipment belonging to the type of trap, which is operated there is surface water that is used to catch flying fish, but mostly operated in the bottom waters that are used to catch demersal fish.

Trap type:

Some kind of trap that is widely used in fishing include:

Basic Bubu Bubu base can be made of woven bamboo (bamboo netting), woven wicker (rattan netting) and woven wire mesh (wire netting) with derican various forms (Figure 4.9). In operation to use bait or no bait.

Bubu Lost

Bubu drifting in principle similar to the basic traps, but devoted to fly fishing (Flaying fish) as well as on the outside of the traps paired strands ketapa leaf. West Coast Sulawesi Setatan, bubu drift is also used to collect tetur of flying fish. In the language lokat called "patorani" where this atat clioperasikannya at east monsoon, which is flying fish spawning season of the Flores Sea, so that this float traps are used to operate only during certain seasons of Steel.

stock Sero (guilding barrier) is one atat arrest permanently mounted fish in the water, usually containing an array of pagan-pagan who serves for guiding fish into a trap. Made of wood, or bamboo.

Jermat Jermat adatah traps made of netting shaped bag and placed semi-permanent challenge / berlawanlan with the current (usually tidal currents) is used for utilizing fish go with the flow. Jermat atat fishing is a very simple, where the installation is placed on fast-flowing areas there is lots of fish.

Set Net Set Net almost the same in terms of principle Sero arrest. Set Net but more modern than the Sero and the arrest was not only in coastal areas can be even further from shore. Webs is a building placed in the water. This type of fishing gear is very well developed in Japan. Set Net is used to exploit the fish are happy to migrate to the coast where the road passed through the fish net was blocked by lead, as a result of fish will go to the net. Set Net can be distinguished from its size, set a medium-sized Net-called "hisago-CMI", which are large-called "otoshi-CMI" and that are large but more complete so-called "masu-ami".

strengths and weaknesses gear

Line Fishing, a fishing technique using a fishing rod, with the other term is called a hook and line or angling is fishing gear consisting of a rope and hook. In the fishing technique, it is generally mounted bait the hook, either the original form of bait fish, shrimp and other organisms as well as artificial bait made of wood, plastic and others shaped like a fish or shrimp. Both types of bait is working to attract fish.

In this fishing technique, a tool consisting of pole hook, no fishing lines and bait, usually also added to other equipment such as rods, floats.,, Weights and others. According Ayodhyoa (1931) capture device has positive aspects, namely
1. Fishing tools are not difficult and easy to operate; 2. Small business organization, with little capital fishing effort, was able to walk; 3. Terms of fishing ground is relatively small and may freely choose; 4. Effect of weather, marine atmosphere and so is relatively small; 5. The fish are caught one by one so that freshness can be guaranteed.

But the positive aspects of the above, this fishing technique has several disadvantages, namely:
1. The number of fish caught are relatively small; 2. Bait is very influential on the number of times the operation can be performed; 3. Expertise sipemancing very prominent even though the place, time and other requirements the same, hashil gear slightly different from each other; 4. Is a passive fishing on fish, fishing line will be drawn after the fish takes the bait.
